Eddie Izzard was at the Mullburry in Stockton Heath as part of the Labour Party Campaign
Comedian and actor visited Stockton Heath on Thursday, June 1st, showing support to the Warrington South candidate Faisal Rashid, who has been busy campaigning all over Warrington South, which traditionally has always voted Conservative.
Eddie addressed supporters outside of the Mulberry Tree pub on Victoria Square. He called for them to 'vote Faisal Rashid' and to 'Vote Labour' in the general election which is held on Thursday, June 8th.
He also stated that:
“We want to put policies in that really help working people but we’ve got to get elected to do that, and Faisal is a very good example of someone who should be elected. He is a good example of a modern 21st century person who is working to bring people together, to get communities working together and help people. We are for the many and not for the few – I’m doing ok for myself but I want everyone to do well, and that’s what we believe in.”
The 55-year-old had previously visited Warrington ahead of the 2015 general election, when he backed Labour leader Jeremy Corbyn’s predecessor Ed Miliband.
When We spoke to Faisal Rashid, He told us "I am absolutely thrilled and honoured to have been selected as Warrington South’s Labour parliamentary candidate for the forth coming general election."
He stated that "I will be having open discussions and will have a forum in place to discuss how I can make a difference on your behalf"
He also stated "Vote for me and I will address your needs in the local area".
