The Post Office in Stockton Heath relocation has been announced

STOCKTON Heath Post Office is set to relocate to another site in the village. This is due to the 'largest investment programme' in the company's history!

Blueprints have been drafted to transform the existing Post office on London Road into a brand new restaurant and bar. Approval went through in August. The Post Office held a consultation after proposing to move it's branch to P&S Supermarket, on Walton Road, and following a range of feedback it has been announced the plans will go through.

There will be new services to launch at 1pm on October 31 and there will be three counter positions. There will be two modern-screened positions and an open-plan Post Office terminal situated by the shop's retail till. The current Post Office will close at 12.30pm on October 29 and residents have been asked to access services from Latchford Post Office, on Knutsford Road, during the closure. Post Office CEO's have confirmed the new branch will be designed to ensure easy access and 'adequate space' for customers using a wheelchair. Opening hours are also set to increase by 41 hours and 30 minutes a week, with services available seven days a week.

The proposals had been met with criticism among some residents due to the branch moving further away from the centre of the village but Post Office regional manager Suzanne Richardson is confident the move will be a success.

She said: "We are making it easier for customers to get their cash, send and collect their mail and do their banking because we know how important these services are to residents."

she further stated.

"We are confident that this vibrant new style Post Office at the heart of the community will meet customer needs. This modernisation is part of a major investment programme, the largest in the history of the Post Office."

The Walton Road branch will be open from 9am to 5.30pm Monday to Saturday, with a selection of services available at the retail counter during shop opening hours from 6am to 6pm on Monday, Tuesday and Thursday, 6am to 7.30pm on Wednesday, Friday and Saturday and 7am to 6pm on Sunday.

We hope that the Residents and people using the New Post Office fnd it just as useful as the old one considering the relocation 322 metres away.
